Much ado about tipping. All your burning questions about tipping house cleaners, answered.

Many of the questions that we receive at BerryClean are about the cleaning staff receiving ample compensation for their hard work. Our cleaners maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in your living and working spaces, and so you want to ensure that they’re taken care of in return. Our cleaning teams are so thankful for your support!

Why should I tip?

Tipping is not mandatory, but it is a gesture of goodwill and appreciation for the hard work put in by your cleaning team. It serves as a way to acknowledge the effort and dedication that your team puts into their work, often going above and beyond to ensure that your needs and wants are seen to, every step of the way. Here at BerryClean we maintain those high standards, and a tip is a great way to show the team that you see that. It fosters a bond between clients and their teams.

How can I tip?

We make tipping as easy as possible! We can accept tips in cash, on your card, or even by Venmo. It just depends on what is most convenient for you. You can even add a tip to your cleaning appointment by logging into your account, 24/7. Our cleaners receive 100% of their tips, every time.

How much do you tip house cleaners?

As tipping is a gesture of good will for a service received, that is entirely up to you. The current service standard for hospitality workers (such as waitstaff, bartenders, cleaning staff, and porters) is 15-20%. During holiday seasons or emergencies/ last minute cleanings, that number can increase to 20-25%. For instance, if you have a 1 bedroom home that you would like a Basic Cleaning for, the total is $199. If you wanted to tip, the suggested amount would normally be between $29.85 - $39.80. During holiday or emergency bookings, that suggested amount would be between $39.80 - $49.75. You are always welcome to tip more or less as you see fit.

How do you tip multiple cleaners?

We take care of that for you! All of the cleaners who served you receive an equal amount of the tip received. So for instance, if you had two cleaners serving your home, and you tipped $40, both of your cleaners would receive the same amount, $20. If you had three cleaners, and tipped $45, all three would receive $15.

Do other customers tip?

Yes they do. We recently conducted research of our over 10,000 happy customers to check how many of them tip their house cleaners. We found that a majority of them do--so you're in good company when you leave a tip for your dedicated BerryClean house cleaners, or for that matter any dedicated house cleaner.
